Engineering and design consultancy Aecom has won a $25 million contract to design the renovation of the US Air Force Academy’s Sijan Hall, a 700,000 square foot dormitory with 2,200 beds.

Located north of Colorado Springs, CO, Sijan Hall is the second-largest dormitory in the country. The Aecom-designed renovation will be building’s first modernization since its construction in 1968.

Purpose: The Digital Design Specialist will be responsible for developing consumerfocused website landing page, designs, digital marketing and social media ads, website banners and more aligned to Advocate's digital and brand standards for desktop and our mobile first approach while employing advanced design techniques.

Project Engineering Manager plans and directs all design engineers, drafters, and technical engineers working on specific projects. Manages the development, implementation, and evaluation of complex designs. Aecom will design a five-phase renovation that includes reconfigured shared spaces for studying and socializing, energy efficient materials and systems, smart building technologies, improved daylighting, and geothermal energy and air conditioning.

The consulting firm is also supporting the Air Force Academy with the restoration of Cadet Chapel and the design of the new US Air Force Center for Cyber Innovation (Cyberworx).

Fiscal year 2020 results

The LA-based firm earlier this month announced its fiscal year 2020 results, posting $13.2 billion in global revenue for a decline of 2% compared to the prior year on an organic basis.

Aecom in October announced the integration of its design & consulting services (DCS) business into one global organization led by Lara Poloni, who became the firm’s president earlier this year.
The public company said that the “restructuring actions” aimed at delivering agility, efficiency, and streamlining will result in an expected restructuring expense of between $30 million and $50 million in fiscal 2021.

Carroll County Public Library’s new space, Exploration Commons at 50 East (https://explorationcommons.carr.org), is seeking full and part time Experience Design Specialists who are passionate about new technologies and/or have professional cooking experience. You will create and implement trainings and programs for a thriving maker and culinary community in our innovative and state of the art makerspace and teaching kitchen. The successful candidates will be highly motivated, able to work independently as well as with a team focused on providing superior customer service, and able to learn and share new technologies and skills.

 

Experience Design Specialists will plan, prepare and present training on makerspace, teaching kitchen and meeting room resources; conduct programs on a variety of makerspace and cooking concepts; create content and showcase applications of new technology for the community; work closely with educational, workforce development, and other community partners to develop content; and engage the public through a wide variety of technologies and professional-grade kitchen equipment.

 

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree and 1 – 2 years directly related experience
Requires 90 contact hours of approved in-service training through Library Associate Training Institute (LATI) within first 2 years of employment or 9 hours of formal academic course work in library science
Instructional experience preferred
Proficiency with design software (Adobe Creative Cloud and Autodesk)
Familiarity with the makerspace and/or kitchen equipment
Highly effective communicator via email, telephone, and in person
Or equivalent technical training, education, and experience
